Yuan Nation Under God

The National Debt of the U.S.A.

If you get dizzy trying to keep track of the commas that is trillions of dollars.
Or, to make it a bit more personal, $26,502.50 per person as of this writing. (the grand total above should increment automatically)
source of the above figures and more details...of course that doesn't include the labor that India supplies. Not just phone banks for when you need product assistance but skilled labor for high tech industries in Texas and California where Indians are recruited to come and do work requiring highly skill levels lacking in the local populace.

There are plenty of sources for this information.

And just who do we the people owe this money to??
The Social Security Administration (AKA you) Other governmental agencies T bond holders and foriegn countries most note worthy of which are China and the home of Osama Bin Ladin and the September 11th terrorists, Saudi Arabia.

How did we get here? Was it those liberal Democrats and their handouts to the lazy working class and indigent people? Did it all go to give-aways to the slacker sick and old people? Keeping Terri Shiavo alive? Surely it must have been decreased when Reagan (Bush I) threw so many lazy factory workers and welfare recipients out in the street where they belonged. Washington outsider Texas dirt farmer a man of the people Bush II must have put a dent in the debt too. Hmmmm...let's see;

Hmmm... must be damn liberal figures.

So maybe we can pay it down with Yankee ingenuity. Make a better mouse trap. Raise the standard of living, educate everyone to the maximum and we can compete with all of those backward countries where they are illiterate, ignorant and superstitious? Well we can see from the chart below that the U.S., U.K and India are all in the same category as importing more than they export. That is getting more than they are giving;

Better start trading your American dollars for Chinese Yuan and European Euros. Everyone else is.

We were always taught that our "freedom" here in the U.S.A. gave us an insurmountable advantage in the world market as well. Not to mention another product that is our God given duty to export. So how are we doing in the freedom department?

Number of people imprisoned per 100,000.
Please also note that the U.S.A. holds thousands of people secretly and without charge in prisons around the world that are not included in the following figures which are thanks to Kings College London . In addition to per capita rates they also have total raw numbers and break downs by sub units of countries such as individual states. Texas has by far the most imprisoned people on earth followed closely by other Bible belt states and Ahhhnold Swarzeneggar's California...

(please also note that countries listed with the same rank are tied for that rank and there is no error)

Great work again, Noel.

If those figures don't bring some people to their senses [of reality] then it's doubtfull anything will.

While the startling financial facts are extremely revealing in themselves - the imprisonment information is nothing short of breath-taking.

Thanks once more for the time and trouble you take to help enlighten the uninformed and misinformed.

Thank you Richard

I can't remember where I first heard this but it could have been from you Richard considering that it was apparently reported in the U.K.

"A US man shot his postman so that he would get sent to prison for life and escape his crippling medical debts, investigators say."

"He said he feared losing his home and thought that living in prison would be better than surviving on the street."

Considering the quality of health care inmates receive I think he will live to regret that. If he lives that is.

Being amongst the homeless in the United States in these days of brutal arrogance and intense materialism is a horrible experience but probably still better than prison even for the sick and elderly. People hate the indigent here thanks in large part to the endless barrage of propaganda used to shift the blame for our exponentially expanding poverty from the corporate/government criminals to those they have screwed.

It wasn't from me, Noel, although I did read it. A terrible tale.

What an awful indictment of the system.

Georgia is a decidedly "red" state. So is Tennessee where my little sister lives. She had her coverage cut in the last year or so as have many others. As I have said before socialism follows these fascist bastards around like a dog owner with a pooper scooper as it has in Chile. They cause so much devestation of the economies they plunder that nationalisation of health care, banks, utilities and everything else becomes a matter of dire necessity. That's assuming the ciltures they ravage survive at all.

Instead of running Republicans in Democrats clothing to try and regain a pseudo-democratic majority people will soon be begging for liberals to vote for. Begging for freedom and democracy, not to mention a roof over their heads and food in their bellies.
