World Wide Living Wage
The coming socialist state
The fascists have left a wake of destruction and democratic reform. In that order. Democratic reform even socialist and communist reform has followed fascism like a wake follows a ship. After the fascists take what they want and trash the infrastructure leaving desperate poverty, reforms such as those instituted in Chile, desperate measures to save the country even before the exit of Pinnochette, take place. Anaconda Copper company was nationalized and socialist reform beyond that Allende, an avowed socialist had proposed were instituted. Allende was murdered along with his followers in a Kissinger backed coup that unleashed death squads on the countryside and a reign of terror and poverty that lasted for years.
Argentina experienced massive inflation as fascists looted it's economy and death squads "disappeared" thousands and left the country in economic ruin. Now they are instituting Franklin Roosevelt style government works programs that have already been credited with boosting the economy hugely. Surprising even it's proponents.
In fact Franklin Roosevelt himself was elected in the wake of a fascist run in the U.S. that saw the rise to great prominance of the KKK, prohibition and other "moral" represion and the looting of Wall street during the Hoover administration leading to the crash of 1929.
The rise of Reagan and his puppet masters saw wages decrease, looting of the savings and loans, build up of massive national debt and crime. Clinton offered a slight mitigation of this run but now it is expanding exponentially under the Bush II regime. The death squads ran rampant during this last run from Negroponte in Central America and Ossama Bin Laden in Afghanistan and then the rest of the world to Negroponte in the U.S.A. now. It seems logical to assume that, barring total anhilation of the planet, when his death squads have finished rounding up and disappearing thousands, more likely hundreds of thousands and disappearing them that we will end up a socialist state.
In their search for cheap labor it seems to me that a world wide living wage would reduce or eliminate the need to move factories to country after country and, with many, many more people with money in their pockets there would be markets to sell the products they manufacture. Then maybe they will have less incentive to bust unions, the first thing fascists always do. Hitler outlawed trade unions within the first few days of his assumption of power and this is always the formula of fascism.
A world wide living wage just seems like a goos thing for everyone. Compettion would be restored to building a better mouse trap rather than building the old one cheaper with the cheapest labor available and the most flashy and deceptive advertising.
Of course we would have to get the fascists out of our government. We don't need a lame brained CEO like Bush. We need a Democracy with a president that is a servant of the people chosen from amongst the people. 300,000,000 of us. There are a lot of geniuses in that number and a lot of uncorruptable people who would be happy to manage the affairs of a genuine democracy.

You're so right, Noel.
There will be a backlash - there always has been and there always will be.
And after all that's been going on over the past several years, this time it will be one hell of an almighty backlash.
With a military that equals the rest of the world combined they always want to have conflict on the militant level with the goal of robbery. Plain and simple.
